Cleaning House?

YahooThe owner of the Pittsburgh Power fired all 24 members of his team during a pregame meal at an Orlando-area Olive Garden. With AFL players set to strike before the 2012 season opener, owner  Matt Shaner reacted first, cutting his entire team hours before kickoff  of a game against the Orlando Predators.“I’m putting food in my mouth and being read, from a piece of  paper by our owner, that the Pittsburgh Power as a whole is now  terminated,” said former Power center Beau Elliott, who played at  Highlands High School and Indiana (Pa.). “Mid-statement, all the players got up and left,” “Every player got up and left while he was still talking. There were 15 to 20 angry, large individuals.” The AFL Player’s Association was calling for an increase in the $400  game checks paid to most players on each team. The union demanded a 300  percent increase in the minimum salary. AFL owners countered with a $100  raise.

Finally an owner with some balls. Players of every league everywhere have just gotten out of control. NFL players demanding their guaranteed money. NBA players demanding their trade. Arena League players demanding 300% raises. Its chaos. Matt Shaner offered everyone a very reasonable $500 per game for these guys to go out there and play some glorified flag football. He probably wanted to go have a lovely team dinner together at the Olive Garden. But there’s only so much one man can take. There’s only so much abuse a hotel mogul like Matt Shaner can take from the Arena League Players Union. 500 bucks a game ain’t good enough for you? Endless pasta and endless breadsticks not good enough? Well the get the fuck out of here.

I’ll go recruit the yuppies who play Zog sports to fill out my roster. Same shit basically.

PS – I wish the owner of the Magic had the same balls this guy did. Take Dwight Howard out to the Olive Garden and tell him he’s not getting traded and to shut the fuck up. Tell him to stop being so soft and giggly and inconsistent and then maybe they wouldn’t have to worry about the Magic not being a contender
